Company of Voices

Company of Voices  – not a choir, but a group of friends who enjoy singing together.  Founded by Musical Director, Leigh Vaughan in 1995, the Company share a love of choral music, and a belief that singing in harmony has the power to lift the human spirit.  They take delight in conveying their enjoyment to their audiences.  Members come from all walks of life and span a wide age range from mid twenties to none of your business! An amateur community Vocal Ensemble they profess to “specialise in diversity”.

The Company sings in many different styles and several languages, and explores a range of choral music from early Renaissance to current popular songs and jazz classics. Instrumentalists are often invited to share accompaniments with our regular pianist, particularly jazz guitarists and percussionists. We have established a great relationship with our community orchestra   Sinfonia Mid North Coast –  and members of Sinfonia Ensembles are often special guests at our concerts.

The group consists of eighteen men and women from all parts of the Great Lakes area, on the Mid North Coast of NSW.  Rehearsals are weekly in Forster and membership is by invitation and audition, with a key criteria being the ability to Party!

Company is happy to sing anywhere, and we particularly enjoy performing when we know our singing is raising money for a good cause.  Our promotional line is often … “Weddings,  Parties, Anything”  We have been featured in Forster Film Festival entries and have supported an educational short film to prevent alcohol and drug abuse in young people

In 2016 we celebrated our 21st Birthday with a wonderful series of concerts. We raised much needed funds for the Great Lakes Women’s Shelter and Friends of the Great Lakes Library (FOGLLS).
